◐SELENELUNAR FIELD STUDY / 07

FROM DUST TO ORBIT

A world
beneath
your boots.

Boots in the dust. Wheels across the highlands. Explore detailed rock formations, drive a lunar buggy, and invite your crew to the same Moon.

LUNAR RECONNAISSANCE / SURFACE ATLAS

A Moon with a history.

Explore named features and landing sites. Select a marker, or find a mission below.

PICK AN OBJECTIVE / WALK OR DRIVE THERE

Local metres in the generated SELENE field site. Routes favour gentler slopes and known obstacles; watch the terrain while travelling. Flag exhibits are historical reconstructions, not the original landing sites.

A SHARED LANDING SITE / UP TO 8 EXPLORERS

Bring your crew.

Walk together and see your friends drive across the highlands. Start an expedition, then send them your invite link.

Explore solo, or invite a crew.

The host must keep this tab open. Each explorer has their own buggy. Direct connections may be blocked on some school, work, or mobile networks; try another network if joining fails.

FIELD GUIDE

Find your footing.

Three viewpoints, from a single footprint to the whole Moon.

1 · First person
Look through the astronaut’s eyes. Click for mouse look, or drag.
2 · Astronaut
Follow your astronaut. Drag to orbit; scroll to move the camera closer.
3 · Orbit
Explore every side of the Moon. Scroll out to see Earth, or use the Earth + Moon button.
WASD / arrow keys
Walk in the direction of the camera. Shift to lope. Space to jump.
V / H / Esc
Cycle views / hide the interface / release the mouse.

E enters or exits your nearby buggy. W / S accelerate and reverse, A / D steer, Space brakes, and Shift raises the speed limit. Stop before exiting. Use CREW to host or join an expedition. M or the local map opens the lunar atlas. Choose Visit research station to enter the concept habitat.

COSTUME: Press C or select the suit button. Costume 1 is the SELENE EVA suit. Costume 2 adds a padded white expedition suit, reflective dark visor, gold pressure seals, detailed chest controls, reinforced gloves and boots. Your crew sees your selected suit.

YOUR INTERFACE: Select panel headings to fold them. PANELS − / + hides or restores the right-side stack; scroll inside it for more panels. TOOLS − / + folds the top-right buttons. Drag the mini-map title to move it, use its − / + buttons to resize, or RESET to return it to the bottom left. Click the map image to open the atlas. SOUND opens volume and mute settings. Preferences are saved on this device.

Jumps, rover flight, and loose dust use 1.62 m/s² gravity. The walkable highlands are an imagined landscape with detailed Poly Haven rock models and desaturated ground materials; the globe uses NASA LRO imagery.

FIELD SAMPLING: Stop within one metre of a gold-ringed small stone. F turns your explorer toward it and picks it up; B bags it and R retrieves a stored stone. Your camera angle stays where you put it. Hold T to aim through the visor and charge a throw. The projected arc shows the target point; release T to throw and return to your previous view after the animation. Esc cancels aiming. G draws the pocket shovel, scoops regolith and pours it into the soil bag. The sampling panel has touch buttons. Both bags hold 12 samples. Stones bounce in lunar gravity and can make other explorers recoil. Samples last for the current expedition.

SUIT AUDIO / SOUND SETTINGS

Hear the expedition.

Boots on regolith, suit movement, tools and rover feedback. Sounds are a cinematic suit feed; the Moon has no air to carry outdoor sound.

Sound starts when you enter the expedition.

Foley and interface recordings: Kenney (CC0). Suit ambience and rover motor created for SELENE.
